Beyond the Bottle

Based on their established mission to deliver sparkling water while eliminating single use containers, PepsiCo + Sodastream wanted to find a way to serve the market even when they were away from home. With an emerging idea in hand, they approached Pushstart to help create a functional prototype of a water dispenser with a digital UI that could serve as inspiration for next steps. Quickly leaping beyond the proof-of-concept stage, this program became what is known today as Sodastream Professional, and served as a milestone for future products within the PepsiCo digitally connected ecosystem.

Ideas Bubble Up

With internal interest surging following the prototype phase, PepsiCo and Pushstart strategized to develop both initial and future feature sets for the product. Pushstart developed a product strategy and roadmap, beginning by developing user journeys, then defining dependencies between all physical and digital components. The goal was to encourage adoption and continued use across many unique user types, across a range of environments.

Beyond Expectations

With adaptability at its core, a framework was developed in order to approach multiple interface formats—various dispenser types, companion apps for users, as well as admin and maintenance portals. With a wide spectrum of needs, each experience needed to be intuitive and tailored to the use case while still being able to scale beyond Sodastream Professional.

Thirsty for More

Extending the vision beyond the horizon, this program served as a catalyst in creating a universal design system for the PepsiCo connected ecosystem. This system—a cohesive and scalable single source of truth—readied their design language to be applied to existing and emerging connected equipment platforms. With design elements and teams newly unified, the system set the stage for connectivity and growth across brands and platforms and ushered an era of seamless user experiences for the company.
